As it turns out Scott Boyd was the biggest loser in the Orange County District 1 race. He was followed by GOP strategist Anthony Pedicini who was a close second. Now, it appears Scott Boyd was nothing more than a patsy for the Florida GOP.
They gave him total control as party liaison to the Austin Arthur campaign. They gave him everything including PAC money and volunteers. State parties usually reserve is money for state representative races or congressional races.
In July 2024, Austin Arthur had a commanding 25% over Nicole Wilson going into the August primary. By August 20th, that lead evaporated causing Arthur to lose by 2 votes. However, that didn’t deter former Orange County Commissioner Scott Boyd.
Boyd went all in for Austin Arthur. He sued people with frivolous lawsuits. He also called in favors from former assistant urinalysis coordinator turned Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Austin Artur’s faced a humiliating loss in the November election. As a result. the former commissioner is learning the hard way that politics can be a hideous bitch goddess. The Florida GOP is making him the fall guy for the disastrous election cycle in Orange County .
The former disgraced Commissioner also recruited his pals in the real estate and the hospitality industry to spend millions of dollars to fund three GOP candidates for the County Commission.
Austin Arthur wasn’t the only candidate recruited by the former Commissioner who was severely beaten in November. The disgraced commissioner also recruited Steve Leary to take on Kelly Semrad in District 5. Semrad beat Leary by 15,000 votes. He also recruited Linda Stewart to take on Mayra Uribe in District 3. Uribe also beat the Boyd backed Stewart by 5,000 votes.

Prior to 2024, the Florida GOP considered the Orange County Commission a lost cause. However, politically well connected and former Commissioner Scott Boyd convinced them otherwise.
The Florida GOP had more money going into the 2024 election cycle than it knew what to do with. Donald Trump was on the ballot again and President Biden’s numbers were in the toilet. Everyone was throwing money at the GOP and Florida was no exception.
So, they had money to spend in Orange County. Scott Boyd convinced the powers at be to pump the money into his slate of candidates.
They did so even though everyone in the GOP knew the former Commissioner was no master Machiavellian. Matter of fact, word within the Florida GOP is that they all think he’s the village idiot and a lying prick.
However, at the end of the day, the powers at be figured why not. Besides, they could always make the failed county commissioner their patsy if it turned out to be a disaster. It turned out to be much worse. It turned out to be a total clusterfuck for the former disgraced Commissioner.
