Winter Garden City Commissioner Iliana Ramos Jones appears to be Austin Arthur’s new cougar sugar mama.

The septuagenarian Ramos-Jones and her development/construction conglomerate has poured thousands of dollars into Austin Arthur’s campaign for Orange County Commissioner.

Rumors persist that Austin Arthur makes triweekly visits to the childless Ramos-Jones’ home. Friends of the family say it’s to massage and rub her bunions in return for the generous donations.

Neighbor say they can hear her loudly moan, “OH, ARTURITO!” several times a week. Could there be something more be going on behind closed doors? It’s anyone’s guess? After all, this is Florida.

Ramos-Jones’ connection to Austin Arthur has gone unnoticed. That is because it has been overshadowed by Scott Boyd. Boyd is a one-time county commissioner turned developer who drew attention to his friendship with Arthur. Boyd and his allies contributed heavily to Arthur’s campaign and to his PAC.

Jones and her companies have donated more than double what Boyd and his allies have contributed to Arthur. WOW! Austin must be a master at massaging and rubbing those septuagenarian bunions.

Campaign finance records show the Ramoses contributed a total of $19,000 to Arthur’s personal campaign. They also kicked in a a hefty sum to his PAC Citizens for Common Sense Solutions (CCSS).

The family is one of Arthur’s largest donors. They surpassed the $5,000 in contributions from companies controlled by Boyd. In addition, they surpassed the $15,000 from local developer Karam Duggal.

Did Sugar Mama Iliana Ramos Jones Violate Campaign Finance Laws?

Jones gave Arthur’s campaign $1,000 on June 29, 2023. That same day, four Empire companies each donated $1,000 to Arthur’s campaign.

In December 2023, four Ramos family members each donated $1,000 to the campaign. 

Then two weeks before the Aug. 20 election, Jones tossed $5,000 into Arthur’s CCSS PAC. Last month, on Oct. 15, 2024, each of the four Empire companies donated another $1,000 to Arthur’s campaign.  

However, it appears that Empire Finish Systems may have violated campaign finance law. Empire donated more than the allowable limit to Arthur’s individual campaign. Candidate campaigns cap contributions from individuals and companies at $1,000. 

Florida law allows contributors to donate up to $1,000 to both a candidate’s primary and main election campaigns. However, this donation is dated nearly a full year ahead of the August 20th primary. This long before it was known that there would be a November runoff. 

Jones isn’t the only Winter Garden commissioner with ties to the building industry who has contributed to Arthur’s campaign.

District 4 Commissioner Colin Sharman, a Trane executive, and his wife Cyndi, are the next largest donors. They contributed $9,000 to Arthur’s campaign and PAC. District 1 Commissioner Lisa Bennett also donated $1,000 to Arthur’s campaign.
